when is a Snipe interesting










possibly when its upperparts look like a Jack Snipe and its head pattern has solid black lateral crown stripes BUT when it sits in the same place for 5 hours and refuses to reveal anything else until it just flies off at dusk you wonder why / if / what and was 5 hours well spent?


Oddly the same bird was back in exactly the same location today 29th but again it refused to show any other features so in very poor light I took a few blurred images as it took off -- confirmation that it is a Common Snipe from the underwing pattern but the upperpart coloration remains striking
