Hi Graham,really nice shots of the Barny...the Merlin images look softer (very similar to some Peregrine images ive taken),are yours due to heavy cropping? or the 7D......i must admit,im very perplexed by my 7D,its so inconsistent.Id be interested in your own thoughts.

the Merlins were big in the frame but moving fast so maybe the softness is down to me but I am also baffled by the 7D focus / sharpness issues --
