Yellow Wagtail variation

this male is breeding at Alkborough with the female below; it is an interesting bird with some blue-grey in the forecrown and on the rear crown and nape but with yellow-green on the central crown; the super is white with yellow at the rear and there is some yellow in the ear-coverts, a short white malar but yellow chin and throat; the mantle appears quite bright; the call was typical flavissima. It presumably has some flava genes but could the flava colours be a genetic throwback?
